Absolutely Black/Absolutamente Negro exhibition at Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts

Creative Justice Initiative so honored to be in collaboration with CMC Arts (Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts) St. Croix with the exhibition entitled Absolutamente Negro scheduled to open September 9, in St. Croix. Thank you to Board Member of CMC Arts , Willfred Labiosa for initiating the outreach and collaboration. The journey to sharing our joint histories, family connections and intentional search for framing our stories from a Liberation/Maroon historical perspective is to share documented truth. Exciting work, we thank the CMC Arts team for opening their doors, the artists that are part of this exhibition from Cuba, Santo Domingo, Puerto Rican, St. Croix and the Diaspora for being part of ABSOLUTAMENTE NEGRO - The Exhibition.

This is a process that we need to duplicate throughout the Caribbean, connecting our African cultural histories and contemporary voices.

Centering the cultural aesthetic of African descendants of the Spanish speaking Caribbean with the English speaking Caribbean seeks to frame our creative perspectives through the eyes of artists focused on sharing the contemporary vision that continues to honor our African legacy. The process of D-Colonizing Eurocentricity as the criteria of artistic excellence insists upon framing exhibitions, curriculums, public forums that center truth telling African descendents' creativity at all levels of our society. This is the objective of Absolutely Black/Absolutamente Negro /a/x
